When the light is terrible for normal landscape photography (bright, sunny days) it is perfect for Infra Red photography. A few years ago I had a Canon 6D converted and the normal sensor filter replaced with a 720nm IR filter. This gave the 6D a new lease on life and it is always with me. The photos require quite a bit of post processing, but the shots you get are unique.
